The tournament was held from the 6th – 9th December in Singapore Weiqi Association (Bugis Clubhouse). Brunei Darussalam Go Association had sent in their team and they had all fought their best! The Tournament comprised of many well-known players of the South East Asia Region such as: Tan JiaCheng and ZhangXiang from Singapore, Le MaiDuy of Vietnam, Zaid and Jimmy from Malaysia, Krit Jamkachornkiat and Nuttakrit Taechaamnuayvit from Thailand, from the Philippines we got Cherisse and Celeste; lastly Edwin, Daniel Thalib, Handy, are all from Indonesia.

Xinwen: 16th/62nd – 4W 2L
Javian Tay: 45th/62nd – 2W 4L
Afiq: 48th/62nd – 2W 4L
Jin Quan: 62nd/62nd – 0W 6L

Considering this is their first debut (not including Xinwen – of course!) to International Weiqi Tournament, it is actually pretty well-done. Brunei Team had actually arrived on the 2nd December to enjoy the scenery and tours around the City of Singapore! Thanks to the generosity of Singapore Weiqi Association and Mr.Tan Teng Chuan.

The South East Asia Weiqi Tournament was formerly known as the “Three-Countries Friendship Tournament” among the Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. For special reason, the host, Singapore Weiqi Association has made this tournament into a bigger scale inviting the Weiqi Association from the South East Asia : Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Indonesia to participate!

Each Association may dispatch up to 7 players! The Tournament will be held from the 6th to the 9th of December at the Bugis Clubhouse (which i really hope they have enough space to accommodate so many players!).

Nevertheless, here are the list of Brunei Representatives!

Captain: ChaiHui
Players:
Xinwen 3-dan
Javian 1-kyu
Jin Quan 6-kyu
Afiq 8-kyu

Jin Quan and Afiq will be making their debut in International Tournament this time. Best of luck to them gaining fruitful experiences!

It is the time of the year where the Association group together to take this Ultimate Group Photo. But the Group Photo has been shrunk! Most of them could not attend due to their personal affairs and commitment but nevertheless, it is nice to be together.

Jayden commented that this group photo can be considered as a “performance review” of the Association.
