This was indeed very honorable for Xinwen to have attended a free lecture series by Kang Laoshi from Singapore Weiqi Association. The Lecture series were lasted for 2 days from 14th of March to 15th of March (Saturday – Sunday).

The lecture started from 9.30am in the morning and ended at 5.00pm in the evening (with lunch break of-course). Lecture series had comprised during the day 1 were: Kobayashi Fuseki, Mini Chinese Fuseki, Nongshim Cup Commentary (Gu Li – Lee Sedol), Komoku Shimari Fuseki, etc.

As for Day 2, the lecture series covered: Chinese Fuseki, Chinese Fuseki-Joseki and ING CUP Commentary (Lee Chang  Ho – Choi Choel Han), etc.

Everyone really had fun, dinner as Steamboat, and almost all the active Go members of malaysia. Hoping for another Training camp in the near future!

8th of March, 2009. Xinwen first time joining along with Malaysia players playing amongst the Japanese players in Japan Club. The match actually started at 13 00 ~ 18 00. The Champion will be awarded Cash Prize.

That would be the first time, Xinwen truly met Enzan (KGS). Playing with 6 handicaps, that Xinwen thought about losing opportunity to win this match however miracle did appear that Xinwen made a came back.

In Xinwen’s opinion, he believes that Enzan should be around 2kyu and potentially stronger only lacking certain life and death and close combat issue.

Xinwen met Alex during the second match and lost, then followed by a Japanese guy and lost. Eventually Xinwen lost 4 games and only won 1.

For the final, Alex had to play against Mr.Tiong who is holding the result of all wins for the Champion and Runner-up position. Then Jimmy was playing against  清水さん (5-dan) for the 2nd Runner-up.

It was quite a good experience playing in this friendly competition. In the end, Mr.Tiong got Champion, Alex got 2nd and 清水さん got 3rd.

In Japan Club, Shogi club is running together with Go Club in the same room “Fuji Room”. Ryou Takehito, Xinwen’s good buddy from Taylor’s College is very fond and passionate in Shogi who is at 1-dan level.

In Japan Club, there is one very strong boy, Naoki-chan, who is only 11 years old is 2-dan in Shogi.

Year 2007, Brunei Igo Society (Unofficial) had decided to set up a go club registered under CHMS Alumni Association with the approval of Mr.Lim Kee Soon and Mr.Chua Tian Jin, president of CHMS Alumni Association.

With the assistance of CHMS Alumni Association, the Go Society managed to host fantastic Go Tournament and advertise to the public. Go Equipments are well provided by CHMS Alumni Association: Go Lecture Board, Go boards, Go Stones and Multipurpose Hall. Thus, members of the society are able to purchase for their own usage from CHMS Alumni Association.

Often, the superior of the Go Society will conduct a Forum Session with the members whenever Xinwen is around. with sincere kindness, CHMS Alumni Association lended their Conference Hall. Most of the time the discussion would be about problems solving any issue uprise in the Go Affairs of Brunei.

The Ing Cup (aka. Olympic Go Game) is originally founded by Ing Chang-Ki (應昌期) ever since 1988  It is held every 4 years in different part of the world, comes along with the biggest winner’s purse in the world, giving almost $500,000 to the winner.

Hence, the 6th ING CUP final has announced to be held in Singapore between the 2 top popular Korean Professionals: LEE Chang-Ho and CHOI Choel Han in a best of 5 games.

Moreover, it is officially declared that Go Seigen (吳清源), the living legend will be attending the ING Cup Final as chief judge. The fact is near absolute, sources from zemotion, daneilhansiong, Malaysia Weiqi Association, Singapore Weiqi Association and Guangxi Weiqi Association.

Meeting Go Seigen is a wish to all go players same goes to Xinwen! Desperately hoping to give a hand shake, asking for autograph, photgraph and etc.
